Dill Pickle Food Coop

Chicago’s only food co-op in Logan Square echoes the ethos of the sustainable food movement by reclaiming waste and working in harmony with land (or in this case structure). The wood floor was refinished, masonry walls were cleaned and sealed, reclaimed wall and floor tiles were installed in the restroom, and entry doors were adaptively reused and now function as operable windows in the newly designed vestibule enclosure. The roof is planted with an edible landscape to help retain stormwater, reduce urban heat island effect, and provide produce for the store.
