This 1940s Georgian Revival home sits beside a lush backyard, where an old birch tree stands as its natural centerpiece. Inside, the layout reflects its era, with compartmentalized rooms and a vintage primary suite. The Cedar House renovation required a delicate balance—protecting the beloved birch and landscaping while replacing the aging porch with a contemporary addition that breathes new life into the home.
The renovation fully takes advantage of the split-level design—expansive 12-foot ceilings in the family room, an airy, open-concept layout in the main living spaces, and a tucked-away partial basement for the laundry.
We maintained the original floor configuration at the front of the house to preserve the existing facade and its connection to the front. The entry, living room, kitchen, and powder room remain on the main level—then comes the defining feature: the split.
