Design Process
The team that brought you Saigon Sisters has branched out with Bang Chop, to bring delicious Thai food to the West Loop. The fresh, modern design nods to Southeast Asia with warm-toned wood paneling and screened storage cabinets.
The bar sneeze-guard and display shelves are understated raw steel, and a custom pendant by Ted Harris Lamps serves as a signpost, drawing eyes to the restaurant interior. In Thai kitchens, the work surface is often a slab of wood from a nearby tree, which we recreated on the bar counter using a live-edge elm slab, harvested from the Chicago area.
